Did you hear? MIT App Inventor is holding a special hackathon this year in lieu of their annual App Inventor Summit. From 12th to the 18th July 2020, kids from around the world will be competing head to head. Then on August 3rd, winners will be announced, and history will be made. The requirements are simple, to build a mobile app that helps those in need and/or provides benefits to communities. If this all sounds interesting, and you would like to register your child, please let us know by email or phone ASAP. The hackathon registration deadline is this Friday, June 19th. This is an excellent opportunity to cement skills learned from our upcoming EFK Virtual Summer Camp (starting June 22) and provide invaluable field experience toward a potential STEM career. Our mobile app development courses with MIT App Inventor will make sure all the required skills are taught. We will work together on a mobile app development platform from MIT Edu to design and build apps. By the end of the camp, students will develop and personalize their very own app that they can install themselves, share with others, and continue to use after the camp! Basic programming experience required. Congratulations to our First Lego League Team: The Shredders, who won the Core Values Award with their excellent innovative thinking, teamwork, and lots of fun! Their performance stood out of 20+ participating teams and astonished the judges speechless!
The Shredders will continue its journey through Zone 1 Robotics from February 7th to mid-April. We are looking for 3 members of age 9-14 with EV3 robotics experience. Please contact us if you are interested. Visit us at: http://www.haltonstemclub.ca/ Thanks, Halton STEM Club We would like to invite your children to our summer camps.
